Transmission
The hydrostatic transmission features an integral antiskid system ensuring optimal traction and adherence on all types of terrain. This system eliminates the risk of slipping and allows difficult slopes to be climbed. It provides great stability and a high level of comfort. The front wheel supports are linked hydraulically, providing the maximum wheel to ground contact.
Engine type
The VN260 is equipped with an Iveco 6-cylinder turbo charged engine, which generates a net power of 150 hp. The VN240 is equipped with an Iveco 4-cylinder turbo charged engine, which generates a net power of 102 hp.
Manoeuvrability
A steering angle of 90 degrees, with an independent rear inner wheel braking system, allows the machines to manoeuvre easily in the most narrow headlands. The turning radius is 3.55 m on the VN240 and 3.95 m for the VN260.
Cab
The standard series VN operator’s cab is isolated to reduce vibration and noise. It features a pressurised air conditioned and heating system which is ideal for spraying applications. For night-time use it is equipped with powerful working headlights. The air-suspended seat is standard on the VN260.
Centralised commands
The multi-function command lever on the driver’s right handside controls the movement of the machine and groups together the controls for the following functions: harvesting head raise and lower, restarting and stopping of the shaker bars, and raise and lower both storage tanks. These controls are available to operate various implements for all year round usage. The dashboard situated next to the driving lever covers the start-up, adjustment and control functions.
Shaking system
The series VN follows the New Holland Braud tradition, featuring a pivoting and self-aligning harvesting head. The harvesting head is guided by the vine stocks, for maximum respect of the plant. The shaking system is specially designed for narrow vines, with a flexibility ensuring total respect of the harvest, plant and the vine row.
Collection and transportation system
Once picked the grape is directly transported by a noria to the storage tanks. The noria basket collection system consists of two conveyors, each fitted with 51 soft food-quality polyurethane baskets. The speed of the noria is equal to that of the grape harvester but in the opposite direction. This allows the baskets to remain motionless
in relation to the vine stock, avoiding friction and losses. All parts in contact with the grapes are of food quality. The hoses and couplings as well as the hydrostatic motors are protected by ducts and casings.
Cleaning system
Two upper suction cleaning fans separate the leaves from the grapes as they fall into the storage tanks.
Storage capacity
The stainless steel storage tanks are end to end seam-welded using a special technology, eliminating air-gaps which could cause a buildup of grape residue. The levelling
augers for the storage tanks are driven by an electric motor, avoiding all risk of contamination to the grapes.
Versatility
Close collaboration between the New Holland Braud technical team and its customers has enabled a new generation of extremely high-performance multi-purpose self-propelled machines to be developed and created. Capable of working with all the implements necessary for vine cultivation, adding or removing the different accessories is simple and quick. In fact, no special tool is required and a single person can easily carry out the work.
Use of the chassis unit
The chassis has numerous fixing points, where the different equipment and implements can be mounted. All the hydraulic and electric connections as well as the controls are available on the chassis unit.
Power take-off
A 45-hp hydraulic power take-off is available as an option. The PTO unit features a variable displacement allowing the 540 revs/minute to be maintained at various engine speeds.
Pruning and trimming
The pruning and trimming equipment fixed on the front offer a high work rate and an optimal quality of work.
Vine spraying
The engine power, hydraulic system, high-performance power take-off and a significant load capacity allows the most demanding sprayers to be utilised. The New Holland
Braud central and side tanks integrate perfectly into the machine and provide a considerable level of autonomy
with optimal stability under all conditions.
Other applications
The self-propelled units can also be equipped with a platform for loading material, a tow hook, post hole diggers, vine shoot shredders, leaf strippers, fertiliser spreaders and post drivers. This great versatility lets you get the most out of your VN self-propelled machine.
Soil work
The VN240 and VN260 self-propelled machine can be equipped with central or side mounted implements which can be pushed or pulled individually. These implements are controlled from the driver’s seat.
Maintenance
The engine is easily accessible for day-to-day maintenance. Excellent access to the different instruments ensures quick and easy maintenance. All the lubrication points are grouped together in order to facilitate maintenance and reduce lubricating time.
